Work with the Community
GreenHouse17, formerly Bluegrass Domestic Violence Program, nurtures lives harmed by intimate partner abuse. We are an advocacy agency committed to ending intimate partner abuse in families and the community. An exciting part of BDVP's work has to do with its 40 acre working farm and healing gardens. The program farm is run by the first graduate of the UK Sustainable Agriculture Program. Dr. Jacobsen has worked in a supporting role in the ongoing development of this valuable work.
Seedleaf believes that the best way to enable the changes we envision is to educate others. Education, Growing, Cooking & Sharing, and Recycling are the core tenets of what they represent as an organization. Dr. Jacobsen serves on Seedleaf's board, teaches in their Master Community Composting Program, and directs her students to service learning and volunteering with this organization to assist with the development of their wonderful community gardens, and in their other various outreach activities.
